OnyxCeph³™ is a client/server Windows™ application with SQL database for working with 2D and 3D image data which primarily supports digital workflows like image-based measurements, treatment planning and patient education in orthodontics and orthognathic oral surgery.

TREATMENT PLANNING


 

The added value of digital orthodontic workflows lies primarily in savings in terms of labor, time and material expenditure, in the simplification of laboratory processes and in optimization possibilities with regard to treatment management and reproducibility of treatment results.

The digital tools provided by OnyxCeph³™ for this purpose primarily relate to the following planning workflows:

 

 

Indirect Bonding | Aligner | Retainer | Appliances | Orthognathic Surgery

 

 

In all these workflows, a 3D export of the virtually planned treatment aids and their subsequent manufacture is required at the end.

For most applications, 3D printing processes using various Graphy resins can be applied.

 

 

Digital Indirect Bonding

 

After the scan has been imported, aligned and segmented using the modules provided for this purpose, virtual brackets can be positioned buccally or lingually on the dental crowns. This can be done either on the malocclusion data set with the aid of the known empirical rules or on the visual treatment target previously established in the V.T.O.3D module according to the Straight Wire concept. More than 10,000 brackets from all known manufacturers can be downloaded and used from the online bracket library.

The transfer of the virtually planned bracket positions to the patient can be done with the help of jigs, IBTs or also deep-drawing processes, e.g. using Graphy resins.

With the help of the Bracket Adapt module, customized brackets can also be designed and printed with Graphy resin.

Digital Aligner Planning

 

OnyxCeph³™provides all the tools required for planning aligner treatments in the Aligner 3D module, including staging, movement-dependent attachment placement, soft tissue simulation, trim line calculation, serial export, post-processing, web viewer and much more. Complex goal plannings can be performed in the V.T.O.3D module and then transferred to Module Aligner 3D to be subdivided into aligner steps. As an alternative to the conventional export of dental arches, from next release the serial export option can also be used for positive aligners, which can then be printed with Graphy resin.

Digital Retainer Planning

 

Various modules can be used for the virtual design of retainers. Plane wire retainers can be milled, cut or even bent manually or by machine. 3D retainers can be milled or printed e.g. with Graphy resin.

Digital Appliance Design

 

With the help of the Ortho Apps 3D and Bite Splint 3D design modules, a wide variety of orthodontic appliances including drill guides for mini-implants can be designed and exported for manufacturing purposes, consisting of bands or splints, 3D objects of e.g. active elements, freely designable connectors or blocks and other design elements. Many of these devices can be printed with Graphy resins.

Digital Planning of Orthognathic Surgery

 

Combined orthodontic and maxillofacial surgical treatments can be simulated on the basis of dental scans fused with volume data. Splints can be generated for the jaw relations to be set during the surgical procedure. These can be milled after export or printed with Graphy resin, for example.

CEPHALOMETRIC MEASUREMENTS


 

OnyxCeph³™ offers a wide range of options for the metric and angular measurement of image data. Among other things, cephalometric analyses for all orthodontically relevant 2D and 3D tracing types can be selected and applied from an extensive library in the Digitze module. In addition, there are options for superimposition, 2D treatment simulation (morphing), symmetry analysis, Ricketts V.T.O., CO-CR conversion and much more.

PATIENT EDUCATION


 

PowerPoint-like presentation capabilities can be used to create sophisticated case presentations and patient dossiers that can be used for consultation, documentation, and communication purposes.
